SoTL Community

We would like to invite you to join "The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Community as a Collaborative Research Endeavor."   This group grew from the momentum of the 2003 Active Learning Retreat with Lee Schulman, the Teaching Academies, and the individual faculty who do this scholarly endeavor. SoTL is a systematic investigation into issues of student learning, bridging the acts of teaching and research.  It asks what works, what doesn't, and why.  This group is for anyone interested in SoTL who would like to share thoughts and ideas on selected readings and to provide feedback for those who are engaged in SoTL work.

This group meets approximately twice a month.  We are excited about the formation of this group since UIUC is now a core member of AAHE "Research University Consortium for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning." In addition, we have two Carnegie Scholars in our midst, Vernon Burton (2000-2001) and Michael Loui (2003-2004). We acknowledge and value your commitment to teaching excellence and hope that your busy schedules will permit you to join us.

If you would like to be on our list serve to receive announcements or seek additional information,  please contact Cheelan Bo-Linn at the Center for Teaching Excellence (cbolinn@uiuc.edu).
