UIUC Rhetoric Placement
Cutoff Scores, Placement Messages, and Credit Policies for 2008-2009

Placement into Rhetoric courses is based on the student’s highest ACT English or SAT Critical Reading score. Cutoff scores, placement messages, and proficiency credit policies are derived in collaboration with the Division of Rhetoric in the Department of English and are reviewed annually. The policies below apply to all students entering UIUC in Summer 2008, Fall 2008, or Spring 2009.

1 This two-semester Speech Communications course, “Oral and Written Communication,” is for students who wish to receive a public speaking credit in addition to fulfilling their Composition I requirement.
