AP Scores
AP test scores that we receive from the College Board are uploaded once a month, and any
AP proficiency credit
you earn is automatically posted to your academic record.
The easiest way to know whether we got your scores is to look
at your copy of your AP Score Report. The lower half lists all the universities that you asked the College
Board to send your scores to. If it doesn’t say “University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign” in the
“College” column, then we did not receive your scores.
If you did have your scores sent but you do not see
your credit in UI-Integrate Self-Service, it could be that there was a problem matching your AP record with your UIUC
record. Please call us at 244-4437 or email us at
pnp@uiuc.edu to resolve the discrepancy.
If necessary, you may bring your *original* score
report to 247 Armory Bldg and we will post the scores manually. We DO NOT accept photocopies or faxes
and we prefer that you not mail us your original score report. If it gets lost in the mail, then we
obviously cannot post your scores and you are left with nothing to prove to us that you earned AP credit.
AP scores that are
sufficiently high to earn course credit supersede UIUC placement exam scores
that would result in a lower placement. For example, if you scored a 5 on the AP
Chemistry exam, you would earn 6 hours for Chem 102 and Chem 104 and be placed
into a Chem 200-level course (and you would need to discuss with your advisor when to
enroll in the Chem 103 and Chem 105 labs). If you also took the UIUC Chemistry
Placement Exam and placed into Chem 102, generally speaking, you would ignore this placement message, accept the AP credit
for Chem 102, and enroll in a 200-level course because your AP exam score is higher than your UIUC exam score.
The University of Illinois recognizes the value of the Advanced Placement
(AP) Program. However, you should be aware that there are times when it is
in your best interest to take the UIUC course that corresponds to the AP
credit instead of accepting the AP credit, so as to be better prepared for
the rigors of the subsequent course in the sequence. Consult with your
academic advisor.
If you
began studying at UIUC prior to Fall 2004 and you now want your AP credit
applied to your academic record, bring your ORIGINAL College Board AP score
report to 247 Armory Bldg during office hours. Your scores need to be manually
processed. Photocopies and faxes will not be accepted.
