THE TRANSFER WRITING EXAM

The Transfer Writing Exam (TWE) is open ONLY to new transfer students who have earned at least one hour of college-level composition credit in an academic writing course but not enough credit to have fulfilled their Composition I General Education requirement. Please call the Rhetoric Department at 333-1006 to find out whether you qualify to take the TWE.

There will be two opportunities to take the TWE this fall. The first will be on Monday August 25 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, and the second will be on Thursday September 2 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Both sessions will be held in Room 59A English Building (in the basement). You must register for the TWE in advance by contacting Lauri Harden at 217-333-1006 or at lharden@uiuc.edu or stopping by 294 English Bldg during regular office hours.

Students are allowed to take the Transfer Writing Exam only once. If you pass the exam, you will earn four hours of RHET 105 credit and thus you will have satisfied the Composition I requirement.
