Developing Web Design Using Cascading Style SheetsHave you wondered what all the talk regarding Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is about? Have you wanted to redesign your web site to go from the use of tables to cascading style sheets, but were afraid it would cause more problems? This 6-hour course will help to inform and expose you to basic CSS concepts and best practices. Hands-on activities will include building a multi-column layout and navigation system from scratch using only CSS for positioning and styling. We'll also learn basic best practice techniques to give you a good solid foundation for your web development efforts.
Updating Your SQL Server 2005 Skills to SQL Server 2008With the release of SQL Server 2008 just around the corner it’s time to take a look at its new features. In this one-day hands-on workshop you will take a self-guided tour of the manageability, governance, performance, security and development enhancements of the SQL Server 2008 engine. Students will be free to pick and choose from among nine modules provided to select the topics of most interest to them. In addition to the core engine, enhancements to Data Warehousing, Reporting Services and Analysis Services will also be covered.
Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with Transact-SQLThis one-day course provides an introduction to the MS Transact-SQL query language and detailed, hands-on experience writing SELECT queries. This course should be attended by those who are in a position to write or understand / modify existing SELECT queries. We will use MS SQL Server 2005, but the concepts apply to all relational databases. Attendees will learn about the structure of the Transact-SQL query language; the ways that queries may be issued to MS SQL Server; how to write and troubleshoot SELECT queries; how to work with date, time and string character data formats; how to group data and perform statistical summarizations; how to construct sub-queries to break down complex queries; and how to use standard table joins to retrieve data from multiple tables.
Maintaining a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 DatabaseThis course is intended for IT professionals who want to become skilled on SQL Server 2005 features and technologies for maintaining a database. At completion of this course, students will be able to install and configure SQL Server 2005, manage database files, backup and restore databases, manage security, and monitor SQL Server.
Implementing a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 DatabaseThis three-day instructor-led course focuses on teaching individuals how to use SQL Server 2005 product features and tools related to implementing a database. Topics covered will include learning how to create databases and database files; create data types and tables; plan, create, and optimize indexes; implement data integrity in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 databases by using constraints and triggers; implement views; implement stored procedures and functions; and implement managed code in the database.
Implementing and Maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting ServicesThis three-day instructor-led course teaches students how to implement a Reporting Services solution in an organization. The course discusses how to use the Reporting Services development tools to create reports, and how to use the Reporting Services management and administrative tools to manage a Reporting Services solution. Topics covered will include learning how to describe SQL Server Reporting Services and its components; create a Reporting Services report; enhance a Reporting Services report; create and manipulate data sets; use report models to implement reporting for business users; configure report publishing and execution settings; implement subscriptions for reports; administer Reporting Services; and implement custom Reporting Services applications.
Implementing and Maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration ServicesThis three-day course teaches students how to implement an Integration Services solution by discussing how to develop, deploy, and manage Integration Services packages. At course completion, attendees will be able to describe SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and its tools; create and deploy a SSIS package; implement control flow, data flow, and logging in a SSIS package; debug and implement error handling in a SSIS package; implement checkpoints and transactions, and manage and secure a SSIS package.
Introduction to Windows Server 2003 Active Directory at UIUCIn this solid overview of the UIUC Active Directory (AD), you'll learn how and why AD uses DNS, and get an overview of AD security and authentication. Learn to create and manage computer accounts in your organizational unit (OU), and effectively manage your OU structure. Pick up some tips and tools for troubleshooting, and you're on your way!
Updating your Active Directory Technology Skills to Windows Server 2008This instructor-led course provides students with an understanding of Active Directory technology in Windows Server 2008 (based on an interim build of Windows Server 2008). After completing this course, attendees will be able to describe and configure server roles with Active Directory Services in Windows Server 2008; plan for and deploy Active Directory Domain Services; install, configure, and manage the Server Core role as a domain controller; manage accounts, subnets, Site-Links, Group Policy, and DNS configuration with Active Directory Domain Services; manage new Active Directory services, including Active Directory Federation Services, Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services, and Active Directory Rights Management Services; set up and manage Read-Only Domain Controllers (RODC); use auditing features in Active Directory Domain Services; and manage credentials with Active Directory Certificate Services, including Credential Roaming.
Implementing Group Policy in the UIUC Active DirectoryGroup Policy provides directory-based desktop configuration management. In the UIUC Active Directory, you can use Group Policy to define configurations for groups of users and computers. With Group Policy, you will be able to specify settings for registry-based policies, security, software installation, scripts, folder redirection, remote installation services, and Internet Explorer maintenance. This 12-hour workshop is designed for UIUC Active Directory OU administrators.
Implementing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0This two-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to successfully implement Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) version 3.0 in their organizations. Attendees will learn the importance of thinking about the architecture of their entire environment, including business and application needs, during the planning and deployment phases. The course covers how to perform a clean installation of WSS 3.0 and also describes all the prerequisites required to select the most appropriate method for upgrading WSS from 2.0 to 3.0 in a specific scenario. In addition, the course focuses on how to manage WSS after it is configured.
Implementing Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007This three-day course provides students with knowledge and skills required to implement Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 At course completion attendees will be able to describe MOSS 2007; plan for and design a MOSS 2007 implementation; deploy and administer MOSS 2007; implement a portal solution, a content management solution, and a business intelligence solution, and a search and indexing solution with MOSS 2007; and maintain and optimize MOSS 2007.
Fundamentals of Network SecurityThis four-day, instructor-led course, designed for administrators who are responsible for the day-to-day administration of Microsoft Windows systems, provides attendees with the knowledge and skills to begin supporting network security within an organization. Students who complete this course will be able to identify security threats and vulnerabilities, and help respond to and recover from security incidents. Although the course focuses on Microsoft product- and technology-specific implementation of security concepts, many of these same concepts can be applied to other technologies.
