Maintaining a secure personal computing environment has never been more important, or easier. With a focus on the Windows 2000 and XP Pro operating systems, this short hands-on session will explore the free anti-virus software and system patching services provided by CITES.

Best practices for obtaining, installing and configuring anti-virus and system update services for automatic operation will be detailed. Additional secure computing practices will be discussed in the Q&A session following the presentation. As time allows, students will have the opportunity to disinfect a Windows computer.

Prerequisite: User-level experience with Windows 2000/XP Pro and Internet Explorer.
  Confirmed faculty, staff, or student status at the University of Illinois
  (valid UIUC Student/Staff ID required)
