ICES Online
We are now piloting a web-based student rating system,
"ICES Online" (this replaces our EON system). This system is
more flexible than paper ICES. Any UI Online
course can use ICES Online. Traditional face-to-face courses can also utilize
ICES Online if the instructor feels students would be comfortable using the web
interface rather than the traditional paper and pencil ICES. While the system
will send notes to the students, it is still very important that instructors
also remind students about the online course evaluation. If you would like
to use ICES Online, please contact us by mid-semester so we can set-up your course.
The system uses the University's
Bluestem
authentication system (NetID & password) to validate instructor, student, and
administrator access. ICES Online is coordinated and housed on a secure server.
Those instructors that use ICES Online will
still be eligible for
The List
of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students
as well as
Longitudinal Profiles, which are used for tenure and promotion
decisions. Normative comparisons will not be reported until sufficient data are available.
Special Notice
ICES Online is in pilot mode and not being used across campus for all
courses. Only online courses (and traditional courses that have
requested to be part of the pilot) are loaded into the system. All
other courses should still utilize the regular paper & pencil ICES forms.
For Spring 2008, the departments of physics, chemistry, mathematics,
statistics, and social work will create the online evaluation
forms for their instructors. Other instructors will need to create their
own evaluation forms once their course is loaded into the system.
We are no longer accepting volunteers for the ICES Online pilot in Spring 2008.
